Kurdish supporters of the PKK demonstrated outside Stockholm’s city hall in Sweden and they hung an effigy of him upside down Recep Tayyip Erdoganprotesting her actions Turkey against them.
Ankara’s reaction was therefore angry, as a result of which the country’s ambassador to Turkey was summoned to explain, while the neighboring country demanded that the perpetrators be found and punished.
The Swedish Foreign Minister Tobias Billstrom took a stand and emphasized that his country condemns the incident, but did not directly refer to the event, which created other negative reactions in Turkey.

The latest incident comes as Turkey has blocked Sweden’s — as well as Finland’s — NATO membership since May, accusing it of harboring members of the PKK and organizations allied with it, which it considers terrorists.
For the Turkish Foreign Ministry, “this is a clear violation of Sweden’s promises in the framework of the memorandum of understanding (s.s. signed in Madrid in June). We demand that these kinds of acts of terrorism are no longer allowed.”
Also, for the representative of the Turkish presidency Fahrettin Altun, “that the PKK is defying the Swedish authorities in the heart of Stockholm proves that they did not take the necessary measures against terrorism, contrary to what they assured recently”.
