Sweden: Progress in NATO Talks with Turkey

Negotiations aimed at overcoming Turkey’s objections to Sweden’s bid to join NATO have progressed and significant progress could be made at the alliance’s summit in Madrid, Swedish Foreign Minister Lind said on Tuesday. with Reuters.

“We are prepared for something positive to happen today, but it may also take longer,” Linde told Svenska Dagbladet (SvD).

“In this case, we will remain patient and continue the discussions even after the Summit,” he added.

Finnish President: Somewhat better understanding between Finland and Turkey

Finnish President Sauli Niinisto said on Tuesday that there was now a somewhat greater mutual understanding between Finland and Turkey ahead of the NATO Summit in Madrid.

He added that he was neither optimistic nor pessimistic about the outcome of the ongoing negotiations with Turkey, regarding the possibility of the country joining NATO.
