Sweden: The Prime Minister who put the country in NATO resigns – She narrowly lost in the elections

Magdalena Anderson, the man who put her Sweden to NATO, announced that it is resigning from premiership of the country, as it lost on elections that were conducted.

According to the almost final results with the votes counted from more than 99% of the polling stations, the right/extreme right coalition led by the conservative Ulf Christerson receives 176 seats, vs 173 for coalition of the left led by Anderson.

The result of Sunday’s election was so ambiguous that in order to confirm the full results, the few tens of thousands of missing votes had to be counted today.

Thus, Magdalena Anderson admitted the defeat of the left and the victory of the coalition of the right and the extreme right in the parliamentary elections, after the counting of votes was almost completed.

Consequently, the head of the Social Democrats announced during a press conference her resignation, which she will officially submit tomorrow, Thursday.

The coalition, made up of three right-wing parties and the far-right Sweden Democrats (SD), has “a small majority, but a majority nonetheless,” he told a news conference.

“I will therefore request tomorrow (Thursday) to resign from my duties as prime minister and the responsibility for the continuation will be assigned to the speaker of the parliament,” he added.
