Russia has decided to deport four Swedish diplomats, Swedish Foreign Minister Anne Linde said in a Twitter post today.
“Russian energy is unmotivated and disproportionate,” Linde said. “Sweden will respond appropriately to Russia’s unwarranted action.”
Earlier, Reuters reported that the Russian Foreign Ministry announced that Russia was deporting three Swedish diplomats in response to the deportation of three members of its diplomatic staff from Stockholm.
The vast majority of Western countries have deported Russian diplomats since the start of the Russian invasion of Ukraine on February 24, accusing many of them of being covert agents of the Russian intelligence services.
