Swiss leader in online banking Swissquote plans to launch its own cryptocurrency exchange by the end of the first half of 2022.
Jan De Schepper, Sales and Marketing Director of Swissquote, announced that the bank intends to become the leading provider of digital assets in Switzerland and plans to add stablecoins and cryptocurrency staking services.
“We want to see more trading in various cryptocurrencies on the platform,” Shepper said.
Now the bank provides its clients with custody services for 24 cryptocurrencies. As early as last spring, Swissquote began expanding its staff in response to the growing demand for cryptocurrencies and intends to continue recruiting.
Shepper noted that the company’s net profit from investments in cryptocurrency increased by more than 1,000% to 63.2 million Swiss francs ($ 68.48 million) in the first half of 2021.
Swissquote entered the cryptocurrency market in 2017 by announcing the start of Bitcoin trading. The bank then added support for ETH, BCH, LTC and XRP, and launched a cryptocurrency storage in 2019.
