Switzerland: Accelerates opening and allows events for spectators with coronavirus certificates

THE Switzerland will allow big concerts or sporting events with more than 10,000 spectators since Saturday, provided that attendees demonstrate the so-called COVID certificates certifying that they have been vaccinated, have recovered from COVID-19 or have been found to be coronavirus negative. The plan, announced today by the government, puts Switzerland at the forefront of Europe in its efforts to return to normalcy and is in line with the country’s mild lockdown strategy, protecting its economy with health-related measures. pandemic, reports APE.

It will no longer be mandatory to use the mask outdoors, there will be no restrictions on the number of people sitting in restaurants and discos and dance clubs can reopen, although admission will be limited to those with COVID-19 certifications.

“As in all facilities where access is restricted to persons with a COVID-19 certificate, there is no obligation to wear a mask,” the government said in a statement.

For events where a COVID certificate is not required, the number of attendees will be limited to 1,000 people when there are seating, or to 250 people indoors and 500 outdoors if there is no specific provision for seats.

Switzerland’s ‘opening’ plan hastens the implementation of previous proposals that would allow events with 5,000 people to be allowed in July and 10,000 by 20 August.

They relax travel from European countries and the USA

From Saturday, Switzerland will also relax travel from European countries, the US, Albania and Serbia, to help the pandemic-hit tourism industry as the summer travel season begins. Border health measures will focus only on those countries where the strains of concern are spreading.

The most contagious Delta strain, originally identified in India, is gaining ground and is expected by the World Health Organization and other states to be the dominant strain in the coming months.

“Vaccinated and recovering people can enter without having to be tested or quarantined, as long as they are certain that the vaccine offers good protection,” the government said, adding that other citizens should be tested and to be quarantined. More than 700,000 people in Switzerland and Liechtenstein have been infected with COVID-19 and more than 10,000 have died from the coronavirus, according to official health figures.
