Switzerland is famous for its dense railway network and many choose to travel by train to admire the scenery in the Alps or to be inside unique trains that climb the slopes of the mountains. Rail accidents are not uncommon, but they usually do not cause many casualties. In 2021, a total of eight people were killed and another 47 injured in various accidents with trains, according to data from the Federal Statistical Service. And, although the use of this medium has increased, the number of victims in rail accidents has been steadily decreasing in recent decades.
