Dozens protesters clashed yesterday Friday (20/5) with police in Zurich Switzerlandin view of World Economic Forum in Davos starting on Sunday.
Violent demonstrations before the start of the Forum, which brings together the world’s political and business elites, are commonplace.
Police used plastic bullets and pepper spray to disperse the protest march in the Zurich shopping center.
“The World Economic Forum and Switzerland are trying to offer the world’s powerful a safe haven where they can exchange views and present themselves undisturbed.”said some of the organizers in an online call, urging citizens to be present along the way: “We need to disturb the peace in their refuge and take action against the functioning of the capitalist system.”.
