Switzerland’s neutrality rules out any possibility of arms deliveries to Poland, President Ignacio Cassis said today during a visit to Warsaw.
“Poland’s first wish was for the surrender of arms. But this is not compatible with our neutrality. I explained it clearly to (Prime Minister) Mateusz Morawiecki,” Cassis said in an interview with Swiss public television SRF.
“Of course, the head of the Polish government expects our full support for the sanctions. I told him that not only have we supported them so far, but we have gone a step further,” he added.
In Warsaw, Morawiecki said earlier that Switzerland should freeze the accounts of Russian oligarchs in the country and confiscate their assets.
Switzerland has abandoned the practice it has followed so far and adopted the sanctions imposed by the European Union against Russia, for its invasion of Ukraine.
