Sycamore Gap, the 200 -year -old iconic tree and the “stupid mission” of two men

Two men were found guilty today for cutting one of the most famous trees in Britain, Sycamore Gap, two years ago, a beloved for the British people of an emblematic landmark who had even appeared in a Hollywood film. Prosecutors spoke of a “stupid mission”. Sycamore Gap, a 200 -year -old pseudonym, dominated the historic Hadrian wall, isolated between two hills in an impressive landscape of Northaberland National Park in northern England. In 2016 it was voted as a “tree of the year” and was also screened on the big screen, in the film “Robin of the Forests” with Kevin Costner in 1991. The tree was cut with a chainsaw, sawed at the base of the trunk on September 28, 2023, causing sadness and anger.
