Syria: 298 suspects for murders in Alawitian area

The National Research Committee on the violence committed in March against the Alawite minority in Syria said today that it has identified 298 suspects involved in those who cost the lives of at least 1,426 people. Inter -communal violence in March in coastal Syria caused the deaths of about 1,700 people, who were overwhelmingly coming from the Alawite community to which former President Bashar al -Assad’s family belongs, according to a report by the Syrian Observatory. “The Commission identified 298 people involved in violence,” said Yasser al -Frahan at a press conference in Damascus, clarifying that it was a “temporary number”. The Commission also found “serious violations against civilians on March 7.8 and 9, mainly premeditated murders, looting and fires, torture and religious insults”.
