Syria: Abu Mohammed al-Julani congratulated the people of Hama “for their victory”

The leader of the rebel coalition that seized Hama today sent a message signing, for the first time, his real name after years of using the pseudonym Abu Mohammed al-Julani. “We congratulate the people of Hama for their victory,” he said in the message, which was accompanied by a photo of Julani and signed by “Commander Ahmed al-Shareh.” Julani, the head of the radical Islamist group Hayat Tahrir al-Sham (HTS), was referring to the capture of Hama, four days after the rebels seized most of Aleppo, Syria’s second most populous city.
