Syria: Large US military operation in Deir ez-Zor – Media speaks of “kidnappings”

A “Big operation” with airborne forces was carried out today at dawn by the US army near Deir ez-Zor, in the east Syria, supports the Syrian state news agency SANA.

American forces landed in the city Busheira, east of Deir ez-Zor, and “kidnapped a number of civilians,” according to Meso.

This information, however, not have been confirmed by independent sources, according to Reuters.

From the Washington side, the Pentagon reported that US-led coalition forces carried out an operation, together with the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF), in Busheira. Four of his fighters were killed Islamic State (ISIS), including one who wore a belt with explosives, but no arrests were made, he points out.

The Pentagon also clarified that it became one separate business, only from SDFs, but not stated whether this coalition arrested citizens.

Deir ez-Zor province, on the border with Iraq, is a strategically important route for supplying Iranian-backed paramilitary groups that regularly send aid to Syria to support the president. Bashar al-Assad, also reports Reuters.

As reported by APE BPE, American forces have been deployed on a base in the region al Tanf, south of Deir ez-Zor, as part of its ongoing, albeit limited, combat mission against ISIS in Iraq and Syria.
