Two rockets were fired from the Israeli-occupied part of the Golan Heights against an empty building in southern Damascus, Syrian state television reported in the early hours of today.
According to this source, one of the rockets was shot down and no casualties have been reported.
There has been no comment so far from the Israeli authorities.
Since the outbreak of war in Syria in 2011, Israel has launched hundreds of airstrikes, almost all by air, against positions of Syrian government forces and their allies, Iranian and pro-Iranian militias, particularly the Shiite militant group Hezbollah.
The Israeli military rarely acknowledges publicly that it is conducting operations in Syria; however, it confirmed earlier this year that it had hit at least 50 targets in the war-torn country last year. The Israeli authorities often say that they will not allow Iran, a sworn enemy of the Jewish state, to build a bridgehead on Syrian territory.
