Syria war warning: “We are on the brink of World War III if Iran gets involved”

His concern about the situation in Israel while continuing the war expressed on Friday morning (20/10) during his TV interview the MP of New Democracy and professor of International Law Angel Syrigos. Referring to the statement of Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis and the “right of self-defense of the Israelis”, the New Democracy MP stated that any reaction by the Israelis “must be done under the terms of humanitarian law”.

“You can’t put as target hospitals. You can’t target points where the civilians will outnumber the people there. You can’t do extended area blocks. It all depends on time. Yes to the right of self-defense, but absolute respect for humanitarian law» pointed out Angelos Syrigos.

Speaking about the Gaza Strip, which is the second most densely populated area in the world after Hong Kong, the professor of international relations stressed “that any movement must be done with great care because whoever enters must go purposefully and not by chance to create many civilian dead.”

He estimated, in fact, that Hamas wants the Israeli army to enter the Gaza Strip where the situation will be extremely unfavorable for the attacker.

Commenting on the speech of the American president and the reference to Hamas and Putin, he said that it was done to send the message to Joe Biden that he will continue the aid to Israel and Ukraine.

“It is very important that America understood from the first moment that this (the problem) can spread to the region and the possibility of Hezbollah entering the war,” he stressed.

Hezbollah, he said, “is waiting to see what the extent of the ground operation is. If the tanks go in, they surround the city and groups of soldiers go in to hit specific targets.”

And as he pointed out, if Hezbollah enters the war, the Palestinian Authority can also enter the West Bank, with everyone’s eyes on Iran, which in the event of its military involvement, the war will take on global dimensions.

“Iran currently directly affects three areas in addition to Hezbollah. It affects Iraq which it effectively controls, it affects the Syrian government and it also affects the Yemeni rebels. Therefore, we are talking about a total ignition in the Middle East region. It is no coincidence that the Americans, seeing all this, hastened to send two of their aircraft carriers directly. And they also rushed to send their foreign minister to tour all the states,” said Angelos Syrigos.

Analyzing the effects of a generalization of the conflict, he stated that “the global oil chain is affected and Iran is a country that has very powerful weapons. They may not be state of the art, but they are absolutely devastating and powerful weapons. The whole region of the Middle East will be ignited” adding that if this happens “it is getting close to the history of a Third World War. That is, Iran is not currently supplying oil to the West, but it is supplying oil to China and Russia. If China’s supply of Iranian oil is cut off, it will cause China to intervene.”
