Syria’s air defenses have thwarted an Israeli missile strike on targets in the country’s central and coastal areas, state media reported on Monday, according to Reuters.
Earlier, Syrian state media reported that the air defense was repelling “enemy targets” over the outskirts of the city of Homs, after explosions were heard over the city, but also in the coastal city of Tartus.
The Syrian army said in a statement that the attack was launched from a point north of Beirut and that the air defense had managed to shoot down most of the rockets fired at parts of the country.
Two soldiers were injured and there were some material losses, the army added, as reported by Reuters.
