Unsurprisingly and with the expected overwhelming victory of Alexis Tsipras, the congress gave the green light to the proposals of the president of SYRIZA for the election of president and Central Committee by the members of the party.

The percentage with which the president of SYRIZA emerged victorious from the polls was 73.5%, with the opposite proposal of Umbrella, ie to remain the power of election of president and Central Committee in the Congress to gather 25.8%.

According to the election committee, out of a total of 5,784 registered, 4,861 voted. There were 30 blank and 5 invalid. The votes in favor of Tsipras’s proposal were 3,438, while 1,208 voted in favor of Umbrella’s proposal.

These results did not come as a surprise to the two “camps” of SYRIZA, as this correlation of power was also expected by Umbrella, as it was reflected in the vote for the election of delegates, where the percentages in favor of the “presidential” showed the same results.

This correlation was “locked”, as was evident from yesterday’s “charging” between presidents and Umbrella, when Dimitris Vitsas asked for Umbrella’s proposal to go to two polls, there were reactions and finally the proposal was rejected by the majority of the body.

According to party sources, the result of the ballot gives a clear order for even greater participation of members in party decisions, while turnout reached 90%, with the “losses” (500 did not even come to pick up their cards) to attributed to Covid, but also to the increased costs, as the conference is recalled to last four days.

According to the same sources, the message of the conference is unifying and extroverted, with the order for the “whole” SYRIZA to proceed for the overthrow of the political correlations and the “political change”, which is the dominant message of Alexis Tsipras and the conference.

Umbrella executives, after the announcement of the results, commented that a strong trend has been recorded within SYRIZA, the strength of which is also recorded in the results.

The Conference concludes its work tomorrow Sunday. The appointment of Alexis Tsipras is expected and now, after the development of the approval of the proposals of the president of SYRIZA for the election of a president from the base, on May 15, the vote for the election of Alexis Tsipras will take place (in the absence of another candidate) again as president of SYRIZA, but also of the new Central Committee.

Earlier Capital.grin a report entitled “SYRIZA Conference: Today the vote of “Tsipras rule” – The “battle” of Umbrella – The background“, he stated:

For the “big” hours yesterday, the SYRIZA Congress kept the internal party tensions in view of today’s vote for the election of a president and a central committee from the SYRIZA base, jointly of the proposal of Alexis Tsipras, which will obviously be approved by the participants with overwhelming . ( The “presidents” estimate that the ballot box will show a percentage of 80-20 in favor of Tsipras – Umbrella talks about surprises – but certainly not capable of overturning the correlations).

The internal opposition was preparing early on Friday (although he abhors the term and describes himself as a “minority”) for the backdrop of her counter-proposal.

It started with the tabling of the amendment requesting that the power of the election of the president and the central committee of SYRIZA remain in the congress – against the decision of the leadership.

It peaked in the evening, when going up to the podium Dimitris Vitsas, asked Umbrella’s proposal to be put to two ballots: One for the election of a president by the congress and one for the election of a central committee by the congress, according to their counter-proposal. Commonly, to “break” the Tsipras proposal.

The blood burned when he won the bid of Vitsa intervention Euclid Tsakalotos having previously rejected it Dimitris Tzanakopoulos, talking about “electoral trick”.

With these and those and charging at the end of the second day of the conference, Umbrella lost the battle of the process. Precursor obviously, for what will follow in this very vote today (ballot boxes open at 12, will close at 7 pm, as announced by Olga Gerovasili, which rushed yesterday in the role of firefighter to drop the tones.

The Chronicles

They were preceded by rich in messages but also snapshots, placements of executives.

* First, the apotheosis of Pavlos Polakis when he delivered his keynote speech. The fans of the “Apsi Cretan” in SYRIZA, burst into applause and cheers “say to Pavlos”, “with you Pavlos” and other such encouraging things about him and absolutely expressive of the perceptions of a large portion of the delegates. Earlier, the former Deputy Minister of Health against Andreas Xanthos, Grigoris Gerotziafas (with hints of expediency in fact regarding vaccines) and the line of SYRIZA in general, towards the pandemic.

* The speeches of the Umbrella executives: Unusual outburst by Nikos Voutsis with an emotional charge at high decibels, in which he grossly accused Alexis Tsipras of tolerating the insults of some towards his 3% executives.

THE Panos Skourletis asked “slyly” Who is the vice-president, the umbrella or Pavlos Polakis and those who share the views on the mistake of leaving the SYRIZA government 37 billion in the state coffers, since the president himself has repeatedly stated that he is proud of it?

THE Nikos Filis, brought up issues of the SYRIZA government and its ideological identity from now on, talking about “Kamenos’ innocence”, invertebrate party and “false voices” about the vaccines.

No one, however, went beyond the “limits”. They have been heard (much) worse at times, in the context of the intra-party tug of war.

* The positions of the participants, however, throughout yesterday, also reflected the correlations in favor of Alexis Tsipras at the conference. In the evening, we will know them by numbers.
