The atmosphere at the end of the conference was explosive even after the speech of Alexis Tsipras, when the voting (statute, etc.) started according to schedule.
Umbrella tabled amendments to the statutes (one of them provides as a criterion for the registration of members as a condition the personal presence and not the electronic one as provided in the statute committee). A vote on the amendments followed, which, although repeated twice, because it was by show of hands and a safe conclusion could not be drawn, with the intervention of the party secretary D. Tzanakopoulou, it was proposed that they also be voted on, on May 15 (along with the vote for the election of president and KE). It was not possible to set up a ballot box at that time, according to the secretary, as many delegates had already left.
On the part of Umbrella, intervened Panos Skourletis, rejecting Tzanakopoulos’ proposal. A vote followed (again by show of hands) on Tzanakopoulos’ proposal, which was approved. Panos Skourletis, however, denounced the process and announced that Umbrella will not participate and will leave.
Mr. compromised Euclid Tsakalotosproposing that SYRIZA proceed with its statutes and that a statutory conference be held.
He intervened Alexis Tsiprassaying that there is no need for a statutory congress, it can be discussed in a permanent congress, partisan as anyway those who come to the polls on May 15, will come in physical presence, therefore the condition of personal participation will be met.
Finally, the proposal of Dimitris Tzanakopoulos “passed” and the statute will be put to a vote on May 15, along with the ballots for the election of a president and a Central Committee.
