Savings Bank, after their request and in view of the closure of 25 branches promoted by the bank’s management, today had a delegation of SYRIZA PS consisting of Aleko Flampouraris, head of the Central Committee for the financial sector, Mariliza Xenogiannakopoulis and Giota Lazaropoulou, executives of the Trade Union and Labor Department.

According to a relevant announcement, the representatives of SYRIZA PS declared the “undivided and comprehensive” support to the employees.

They highlighted the need “for the banking system to play its real, growth role, financing the real economy, small and medium-sized enterprises and not just large groups”.

They also mentioned “the deliberate lack of control and intervention by the ND government, towards the bank administrations, because in essence it supports their choices which violate labor rights, taking advantage of the Hatzidakis law that affects employees and devalued the control mechanisms. “They are hurting the economy, local communities and competition by constantly shrinking the network and exploiting the necessary digital transformation to the detriment of workers and citizens.”

“SYRIZA PS will continue to claim a banking system for the benefit of employees and society,” the statement concludes.
