“The attack of hooded thugs in ASOEE against professors and students is self-condemned by every democratic and progressive citizen,” SYRIZA said in a statement, describing the action as “shameful”.
“It aims at the university itself and the free circulation of ideas that should obviously be respected by all,” the official opposition party added in a statement, adding:
“The hooded thugs are once again discrediting the student movement, with which they not only have nothing to do, but are also in direct ideological, political and moral confrontation.”
According to SYRIZA, however, “the attack on ASOEE paves the way for the government to further react to decisions related to higher education” and calls on “every democratic political force to unequivocally condemn the incident.”
