SYRIZA: RAE report on energy producers’ super profits to be submitted to Parliament today

SYRIZA-PS MPs submitted a request for the immediate submission to the Parliament of the conclusion of the Energy Regulatory Authority (RAE) on the profits of energy producers, in view of the scheduled briefing of the Parliamentary Institutions and Transparency Committee by the President RAE, A. Dagouma, on Thursday, 12.05.2022.

The MPs point out in their request that according to publications, including the APE-MPE but also with statements by the Minister of State, A. Skertsos, the RAE report is already at the disposal of the government and the political leadership of the Ministry of Environment and Energy . However, the conclusion is not available for evaluation by the deputies and the society, both in terms of the methodology and its conclusions, for which there are communication leaks.

The deputies consider it imperative and self-evident to submit the conclusion to the Parliament in time and before the sitting of next Thursday, 12.05.2022, in order to have a substantial dialogue and transparency regarding the operation of the energy market, and the major issue of accuracy in electricity current that threatens the viability of society and the economy.

Subject: “Immediate submission to Parliament of the conclusion of the Energy Regulatory Authority on the profits of energy companies”

Mr President,

With this letter, we request the immediate submission to the members of the Committee, within the day (10.05.2022), of the conclusion of the Energy Regulatory Authority (RAE) for the profits of the energy companies, in view of the forthcoming meeting of the Special Standing Committee on Institutions and Transparency for the information of its members by the President of RAE, Mr. A. Dagouma, on Thursday, 12.05.2022.

We point out that based on yesterday’s publications of APE-MPE, but also statements of the Minister of State, Mr. A. Skertsos, the conclusion of the Regulatory Authority is already at the disposal of the government and the political leadership of the Ministry of Environment and Energy.

Therefore, we consider it imperative and self-evident the immediate submission of this finding to Parliament, in order to provide adequate and timely information to the members of the Special Standing Committee on Institutions and Transparency, but also substantive dialogue at next Thursday’s Committee meeting.

Otherwise it is obvious that the Parliament will have been deprived – in a very critical debate, which concerns the whole of Greek society and economy – of basic elements and information and this is inadmissible as it limits the scope, efficiency and transparency of the debate. .
