SYRIZA “raises” the issue of unvaccinated police officers, with a topical question from the competent department head of Chr. Spirtzi to the Minister of Civil Protection, Takis Theodorikakos.

The minister is asked:

1. What is the number of unvaccinated police officers?

2. What measures have you taken so that these unvaccinated police officers in the exercise of their responsibilities regarding the observance of the rules and measures of social distancing (eg demonstration by citizens of digital vaccination certificates, identity cards, etc.) to do not come into contact with citizens so as not to threaten public health but also their own health?

In detail, the question is as follows:

“As you well know, we are going through the 4th wave of the pandemic in our country and unfortunately the numbers are relentless regarding the rapid increase of cases, intubation and deaths, which according to the official results of EODY yesterday 15-11-2021 amounted to 6,950 , while since the beginning of the pandemic 16,838 deaths have been recorded.

Despite Mr. Mitsotakis’ vociferous announcements about the successful national vaccination campaign and the assurances of himself and his government officials that in September 2021 we would have vaccinated coverage of the general population at about 70%, the vaccination program is still very low. has not achieved government goals and has led to the well-known negative numbers we all experience today.

At the same time, as it appears from the recent publications and the statements of the Minister of Development Mr. Adonis Georgiadis, the security forces, the police and other law enforcement units, in particular now in charge, during the 4th wave of the pandemic, to ensure and maintain of measures and rules of social distance in outdoor and indoor areas (restaurants, gatherings, etc.) making, among other things, checks on citizens for possession of the necessary documents (digital vaccination certificate, IDs, etc.), are about 30,000 more unvaccinated.

It should be noted that these police officers, precisely for the exercise of the responsibilities assigned to them by the state for the observance of the measures of social distancing, come in contact with the citizens, thus endangering the public health, ie the health of the citizens who control but and their own.

Based on the above, but also given that your Ministry, according to your announcements, has mobilized an increased number of police forces in view of the three-day celebrations of the anniversary of the Polytechnic, to observe, monitor and control the measures to prevent the spread of covid-19, but also the imposition of special traffic regulations for them,

The competent Minister is asked:
