SYRIZA: The bill for EFKA abolishes all notions of meritocracy and excellence in the State

“The bill for EFKA abolishes all notions of meritocracy and excellence in the State, promotes the client state and the blue children”, says in a statement the Interior Minister of the SYRIZA-PS parliamentary group, Costas Zachariadis, after a teleconference he had with ADEDY executive committee, in which the former general secretary of the Ministry of Administrative Reconstruction, Grigoris Theodorakis, participated.

“The bill devalues and undermines the public character of the Organization and promotes unworthiness, partisanship and opacity in the management of the huge property of the Organization”, adds Mr. Zachariadis.

In addition to the major issue of EFKA, which is a clear indication of the government’s intentions for the public sector as a whole, broader issues of concern to public sector employees were also discussed. The discussion, according to Mr. Zachariadis, “took place in a very positive atmosphere, with a fruitful exchange of views and absolute identification with the need for a strong reaction to the EFKA bill.”

On the part of SYRIZA-PS, there was a commitment for complete deconstruction and denunciation of the bill at the level of the parliamentary process, but also for full support of the mobilizations of public sector employees. Mr. Zachariadis also announced that he would take the initiative for immediate information and consultation “with the heads of all parliamentary progressive parties, in order to create the widest possible front against government policy.”

In closing, Mr. Zachariadis states: “The government paradox is obvious… Monday – Wednesday – Friday Mr. Voridis talks about meritocracy, transparency, new systems for selecting leaders and ASEP, Tuesday – Thursday – Saturday Mr. Hatzidakis fires the active “directors and directors of EFKA and blue golden boys from the” private “sector (from the deep and dark client network of ND) will be placed in their positions without any meritocratic process and with exorbitant fees that are a challenge for Greek society.”
