In high tones, the conflict between the Government and SYRIZA continues over the Lignadis case, which has thrown the political mercury high.
Koumoundourou, on the occasion of the statements of the Government representative earlier today, severely criticizes the Prime Minister and the Minister of Culture regarding the Lignadis case, stressing in her statement:
“It is neither a people’s court nor an intervention in Justice to criticize both the opposition and mainly the citizens and artists themselves in a decision that is in direct conflict with logic and society’s demand for Justice.”
In the same statement, it is noted that “It is neither a people’s court nor an intervention in Justice to criticize both the opposition and mainly the citizens and artists themselves in a decision that is in direct conflict with logic and society’s demand for Justice .
However, the arrogance of Ms. Mendonis and Mr. Mitsotakis can also be seen in the way they deal with reasonable and supra-partisan criticism. They do not see social reactions, but the actions of SYRIZA PS and the opposition. For the frightened Mitsotakis government, SYRIZA PS has already taken over Epidaurus, the theaters and the music stages throughout the country”.
SYRIZA, in conclusion, wonders: “Why are they so offended by the criticism of the convicted rapist Lignadis and why are they disturbed by the fair criticism of the contradictions of this decision?”.
The announcement in detail:
“The government representative once again today tried to obscure the truth. After trying for days to convince with fake news that Lignadis was released from prison because of the legislative reform of SYRIZA, today he was finally forced to admit that the suspension was given at the discretion of the judges based on of the 2010 law and not by the SYRIZA law.
So the issue is not the Criminal Code. For the sake of truth, there have recently been several similar convictions for the crime of rape, which were not suspended in the first instance sentence. The latest example is yesterday’s sentencing decision to 27 years without parole for the crime of neglect and rape in Agrinio. Therefore, the problem is the court decision itself and not the criminal code.
The contradiction becomes even more pronounced if we take into account that Lignadis, who was convicted of two rapes of minors, had been remanded in custody as dangerous to commit new crimes. The court that found him guilty of two counts of rape of minors also decided that he is not dangerous to commit new crimes.
Faced with this blatant contradiction of the court decision, it is perfectly normal and ultimately an element of democracy to be criticized, both by parties and collectives and by active citizens.
The government representative characterizes as populism and demagoguery the reference to the now-convicted rapist Lignadis as a chosen one of power. Really, since when is highlighting the truth populism?
Which government was the one that changed the method of appointment at the National Theater so that Lignadis was appointed without a competition?
Could it be that Alexis Tsipras was traveling by military helicopter to Epidaurus to watch his chosen director?
Or did SYRIZA PS politicize the placement of a director at the National Theater by giving characteristics of a battle with the Left in the field of culture?
But the most important of all was the effort for 20 days to cover the rapist Lignadis, when the Panhellenic watched in shock the complaints of the victims. When Ms. Mendoni discredited the complaints, launched attacks on the victims and refused to dismiss him as head of the National Theatre.
As for the accusations of interference with justice, it is good not to talk about the rope in the house of the hanged man. Because interfering with justice is not criticizing its decisions, but talking about nonsense and creating science fiction scenarios in order to cover up a huge scandal.
Interference with justice is to put up with threats to the judges that you will “suffer what Touloupaki suffered” as was heard in the Lignadis trial.
Interference with Justice is for the Prime Minister to call journalists “freedom killers” and “gang” because they investigated a scandal and were finally acquitted.
It is neither a people’s court nor an intervention in Justice to criticize both the opposition and mainly the citizens and artists themselves in a decision that is in direct conflict with logic and society’s demand for Justice.
However, the arrogance of Ms. Mendonis and Mr. Mitsotakis can also be seen in the way they deal with reasonable and supra-partisan criticism. They do not see social reactions, but the actions of SYRIZA PS and the opposition. For the terrified Mitsotakis government, SYRIZA PS has already taken over Epidaurus, theaters and music stages throughout the country.
Blinded by the arrogance of power, they fail to listen to the society that reacts to this injustice and does not remain silent.
Because it is society itself that cannot be silent about the fact that a person convicted of two rapes of minors is out on probation.
Because one doesn’t have to be a SYRIZA PS to be outraged by the hood, one has to be human.
Because toxicity, which the government invokes of late, is not the criticism of injustice but the cover-up.
Mr. Mitsotakis and Ms. Mendoni are bothered by every protest as if it were their own business, because from what it seems they chose from the first moment to deal with it as if it concerned them personally.
So there is only one question: Why are they so offended by the criticism of the convicted rapist Lignadis and why are they bothered by the fair criticism of the contradictions of this decision?
The Greek people know the answer very well. As well as that he has nothing to expect from the current government. And whenever the elections are held, it will decide for a fairer society.”
