T. Gaitanis: SYRIZA always says the exact opposite of the government in the opening of schools

The opening of the schools, the criticism exercised by SYRIZA on the issue as well as the prospects of the economy for 2022, was mentioned by the spokesman of ND, Tassos Gaitanis in a radio interview on ALPHA 98.9.

Mr. Gaitanis made special mention of the operation data of the schools of the previous quarter, which, as he said, showed that the schools are safe and this is due to the extensive testing, where 84% of the cases were detected. “On a daily basis, an average of just 2.78 of the 81,000 school districts closed,” he commented. At the same time, he pointed out that the recent data of the ECDC show that in our country the cases in the ages of 0-15 years were below the European average, while he argued that in Europe, lifelong learning has started or is starting in almost all countries.

Regarding the criticism leveled by SYRIZA over the issue, he stressed that the operation of schools is a sensitive issue and stressed that because the main opposition party has a shortage of political positions, it uses extreme expressions to fill this gap. “It is a great pity that SYRIZA opposes in such a way an effort that is made in all countries,” he said, adding that SYRIZA always says the exact opposite of the government in opening schools.

Finally, in relation to the economic situation of the country and the prospects that exist for 2022, Mr. Gaitanis argued that there is already a gradual de-escalation of energy prices and referred to the government’s announcements for the new package of financial support for households and businesses, amounting to 400 millions. At the same time, he pointed out the existence of a good economic climate in the country, which, as he said, is proved by the fact that in 2021 all the losses of 2020 were balanced due to the high growth rate. “Unemployment, taxes and insurance contributions have decreased, large companies are choosing Greece to invest, while the start of Recovery Fund projects creates great optimism for the course of the country,” he said.
