“The Prime Minister’s speech at the Congress was a historic and important moment, which pays tribute to Kyriakos Mitsotakis but also to Greece,” ND spokesman Tassos Gaitanis said in a radio interview with Kanal 1 90.4.
In particular, Mr. Gaitanis pointed out that such invitations are not common for foreign leaders, with the Americans themselves valuing the Prime Minister’s speech as extremely important. He underlined as important the fact that the prime minister highlights a new Greece, which with prestige, confidence and respect is finally the strong Greece we want. Mr. Gaitanis also stressed that this strong Greece is the best deterrent to Turkish revisionism but also to all the dangers that exist in our region.
Responding to SYRIZA’s criticism of the F-35s, the ND spokesman said that “our choice is to strengthen the country’s defense, because for us this is an end in itself” and added that the supply of F-35s will begin in 2028, when there will be fiscal space. At the same time, he pointed out that this specific supply is part of the prime minister’s plan for a strong Greece in 2030.
Concluding, Mr. Gaitanis asked the citizens to compare yesterday’s image of Greece and Kyriakos Mitsotakis with the image of Greece and Alexis Tsipras five years ago. “No serious comparison can be made between the two periods”, he noted characteristically and continued by saying that “today Greece is a strong country, with confidence, which has a leading role in its region”.
