T. Theodorikakos: 50% additional police officers are serving this summer in Santorini

The Minister of Citizen Protection Takis Theodorikakos met today with the Mayor of Thira – Santorini Antonis Sigalas. In the presence of the Chief of the Hellenic Police, Lieutenant General Konstantinos Skoumas, they discussed security issues on the beautiful island of Cyclades, which this year presents a particularly increased tourist traffic.

The Minister of Defense Takis Theodorikakos has stated that: “Tourism is the spearhead of the development of the Greek economy. Tourism is inextricably linked to the sense of security of foreign and Greek tourists. Nobody goes somewhere if they are afraid, nobody goes somewhere if feels insecure. ” For this reason, the police force on the island of Santorini has increased by 50% this year and specifically there are 96 police officers.
