The government and the Greek police will facilitate the entry of Ukrainian refugees into the country, in close cooperation with the Ukrainian embassy, while at the same time all security measures have been taken at the country’s gates and at critical targets, said the Minister of Civil Protection. Takis Theodorikakos, speaking on SKAI radio and journalists Vassilis Chiotis and Notis Papadopoulos.
The minister answered questions about Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, the discussion of political leaders in Parliament and the preparation of our country for the reception of Ukrainian refugees.
According to Mr. Theodorikakos, the Ukrainian side requested the facility of people who have passports without their biometric features (which are the safest and most modern technology) as well as the need to facilitate families who have their children with them.
“The government and the Greek police will make it easier for Ukrainian refugees to enter the country. This is a sign of humanity and full support for the Ukrainian people and the specific people who are being tested by the war in their country,” he said. all actions so that there is not the slightest issue of security at our borders.
This practically means that all Ukrainian citizens with passports with biometric characteristics enter Greece, while the rest are registered at the entrance, and in cooperation with the Ukrainian embassy obtain travel documents at the country’s borders. “So far, about 1,500 Ukrainian citizens have entered the country, with passports with biometric characteristics and there was not the slightest issue. All these people have relatives, friends and acquaintances in Greece.
