Taeil is no longer part of the K-pop group NCT; understand

The South Korean singer Taeil 30, is no longer part of the K-pop group NCT . The departure comes after the singer was accused of sexual crimes.

The information was confirmed this Wednesday (28) by the record company SM Entertainment on his X profile, formerly Twitter. In a statement, the company explains that the matter was discussed directly with the musician, thus deciding to remove him from the band.

The company also says Taeil is helping authorities with their investigation.

“We recently learned that Taeil has been charged in a criminal case related to sexual crimes. Upon evaluating the facts related to the matter, we recognize the seriousness of the situation and have determined that Taeil can no longer continue his activities with the team (NCT). After discussing with Taeil, we have decided to have him leave the group,” the statement reads.

“Taeil is currently cooperating fully with the police investigation. Providing further statements as the investigation progresses. We deeply apologize for the controversy caused by our artist.”

Who is Taeil, former member of K-pop group NCT?

Moon Tae-il, better known as Taeil, is 30 years old and kickstarted his career in 2015. A year later, in 2016, he joined NCT, also being part of the subgroups NCT U and NCT 127.
