Several Taiwanese ICT manufacturers and organizations intend to form the Taiwan Advanced Automotive Technology Development Association (TADA). Note that there is a little confusion with the name: not only would the full abbreviation be TAATDA, but also the abbreviation TADA, used on the association’s website, is already taken over by the Taiwanese Alzheimer’s Association. To top it off, the new association’s website is located at tatda.org.
The new structure has its origins in AU Optronics (AUO), Pegatron and Powerchip Technology, as well as the Taiwan Telematics Industry Association, the Taiwan IoT Technology and Industry Association and the Taipei Computer Association (TCA).
The task of the new association, its organizers see it as helping manufacturers to integrate into international supply chains related to electric vehicles. It is believed that Taiwanese ICT manufacturers have a good chance to start developing and manufacturing related products thanks to their strong R&D and manufacturing capabilities, as well as support from Taiwanese semiconductor supply chains. Membership in the association should facilitate the development and integration of products and technologies related to electric vehicles.
In particular, TADA will collect information on international advanced technical standards related to electric vehicles, making it available to manufacturers. In addition, TADA will host events that will enable Taiwanese electronics manufacturers to understand automotive specifics and show automakers to Taiwan’s ICT and semiconductor strengths.
