Taliban ultimatum to drive Americans out of Afghanistan

The United States and its allies will be exposed to “consequences” if they delay withdrawing from the Afghanistan, scheduled for August 31, warned a spokesman for Taliban on Monday, through an interview with the Sky News television network. It is recalled that the former remain in the country in order to continue the evacuation of citizens from Kabul.

“It’s a red line. President Biden has announced that (the United States) will withdraw all its armed forces to August 31st. “Therefore, if they extend (their presence), it means that they extend the occupation, while it is not necessary,” said the representative of the Islamist movement. Suhail Sahin.

“If the United States or the United Kingdom are asking for more time to continue the deportations, the answer is no. Otherwise there will be concequenses. This will create mistrust between us. “If they intend to continue the occupation, it will provoke a reaction.”

It is recalled that the American president Joe Biden opened the door – under pressure from its allies – to allow troops to stay in Afghanistan beyond 31 August, as thousands of families gathered near Kabul International Airport to try to leave the country before that date.

Besides, the British Minister of Defense Ben Wallace stated today that the United Kingdom intends to request the United States tomorrow, Tuesday, on the occasion of the G7 summit (G7) which will be dedicated to Afghanistan and will be held by teleconference, to continue the evacuation operations beyond 31 August.

The British Undersecretary of the Armed Forces James Hippie had previously stressed, speaking to Sky News, that the decision to extend the US presence in Kabul not lies exclusively in Washington and that the Taliban also have a say, as broadcast by APE BPE.

“One will follow discussion with the Taliban, as the Taliban will have the choice between seeking to work with the international community and show that they want to be part of the international system “or” say there is no way to extend “the US presence, he said.
