Talk about childless women owning cats was “idiotic,” says Vance

In an interview with The New York Times published this Saturday (12), the Republican candidate for vice-president of the United States, JD Vance, addressed a series of issues and clarified previous statements, in addition to evaluating the way he expressed it as “idiotic”. his criticism of “bunch of childless women who own cats”.

“I certainly wish I would have said it differently,” Vance said.

But the Republican said he stands by the point he made as a U.S. Senate candidate in a 2021 interview with Tucker Carlson, attacking Democratic Party leaders including Vice President Kamala Harris.

He specifically criticized those who have decided not to have children because of climate change, describing such a decision as “very disturbed” and “sociopathic”.

“I think this is a bizarre way to think about the future. Not having children because of concerns about climate change? I think the most bizarre thing is our leadership, which encourages young women, and frankly young men, to think this way,” Vance argued.

And because both tickets focus on the issue of abortion rights, Vance said voters “instinctively distrusted” Republicans on the issue after the Supreme Court’s Roe v. Wade decision was overturned. Wade in 2022.

The verdict on the trial acted as a guarantee to ensure the right to abortion in the country.

The vice presidential candidate said Republicans must win over voters by supporting what he described as pro-family measures, including fertility treatments, reducing the costs of raising children and helping young families buy homes.

He also backed away from his previous support for nationwide abortion bans, saying it is now a “different world” and that Republicans must live with some states enacting more progressive laws.

“President Trump and I are saying, yes, sometimes these issues are confusing. Sometimes it will be a little unusual for, say, California to have a different abortion policy than Alabama. But democracy is sometimes messy. We want to preserve the right of states to make these decisions,” concluded Vance.
