Talks today in Germany on allegations of fraud at covid-19 diagnostic centers

For the control mechanisms in its diagnostic centers COVID-19 Federal Health Minister Jens Spann and his 16 state counterparts will meet in Germany today, following allegations of fraud.

As allegations of fraud against several COVID-19 diagnostic service providers surfaced last week and Span said on Saturday that there would be stricter controls, he began discussion on how to diagnose diagnostic centers and who will be in charge of controlling them.

“Everyone should know that fraud is severely punished,” said the Minister of Justice. Germany Christine Lambrecht on the ARD television network. “The message must also be given by the state that such checks will be carried out and the appropriate legal consequences will follow.”

According to AMPE, Germany offers its citizens at least one free diagnostic test per week, while several federal states offer citizens one free diagnostic test per day. The state pays 18 euros per test. As a result, private diagnostic centers have been operating en masse in recent weeks.

Some diagnostic centers charge for more diagnostics test coronavirus from what they actually do, as the daily Sueddeutsche Zeitung and the ARD reported last week.

The leader of the Greens parliamentary group, Catherine Goering-Eckart, said reports of fraud were causing a greater loss of confidence. “We generally need much better management again to regain confidence in politics, in democracy,” she added.
