Tamoios track is released after excessive rainfall interdiction

After 36 hours of interdiction, the old Tamoios mountain range was released to traffic early Sunday afternoon, 6. The two descent tracks for the coast had been banned since late Friday night (4) when the highway safety protocol was triggered due to the accumulation of 100 millimeters of rainfall within 72 hours.

The Tamoios Highway is the main access to the northern coast of São Paulo.

With the release, traffic in Tamoios returned to its normal configuration, with the traffic towards Caraguatatuba flowing only by the old mountain and the traffic towards São José dos Campos operating solely by Serra Nova.

During the interdiction period, traffic from the Ancient Serra was diverted to Serra Nova, which began to operate with trains, in the stop and follow.

The trains for the climb were formed at the entrance of the city of Caraguatatuba, while the vehicles that descended were grouped in the Planalto stretch, at km 59. During the interdiction period, 70 trains were formed, according to the concessionaire.
