The developer of the Tangem cryptocurrency wallet conducted a survey, according to which 80% of Russians know what digital currencies are, but only 6% are well versed in them.
Tangem conducted a survey among more than 2,000 active Internet users in Russian cities with a population of over 100,000 people. According to the results, 45% of Russians have a positive attitude towards crypto assets, another 45% are indifferent to them, and 9% dislike them. 44% of respondents are positive about the opportunity to receive income from investments in digital currencies, but 68% do not trust crypto assets because of their virtual nature.
At the same time, 31% of respondents reported that they intend to purchase digital assets within the next six months, and almost the same number – 30% – do not plan to invest in cryptocurrencies. The remaining 40% have not yet been determined. 72% of respondents have never invested in digital assets, 15% of respondents invested in the amount of about $100, 9% – from $100 to $1,000, 4% – more than $1,000.
68% of Russians bought cryptocurrencies out of curiosity, 22% – with the intention of protecting their savings, 19% – to distribute investments, 18% – to pay for goods and services, 16% – in order to protect against inflation and volatility of traditional assets, and another 16% – to earn money on the cryptocurrency platform.
Only 24% of respondents currently hold digital assets, of which 7% hold up to $100 in them, 9% – from $100 to $1,000, 8% – more than $1,000. Sergei Mendeleev, Executive Director of InDeFi Smart Bank, believes that they are actively participating there are no more than 1 million Russians in cryptoeconomics, of which only 300,000 people invest.
The analytical center of the National Financial Research Agency (NAFI) reported in March that 8% of Russians consider cryptocurrencies to be a reliable investment, and 11% – profitable. At the same time, experts say that the number of Russians familiar with cryptocurrency has grown from 16% in 2017 to 67% this year.
