“Tangled”: director of “The Greatest Showman” would be in negotiations for live-action

Australian filmmaker Michael Gracey known mainly for the film “The Greatest Showman” (2017), would be in negotiations with Disney to take over the direction of the live-action “Tangled” (2010), according to Deadline.

According to the publication, plot details have not yet been revealed, but the film is expected to follow the same lines as the animated version. The animation is a modern retelling of Rapunzel’s fairy tale.

In recent years, Disney has started to invest in live-action blockbusters, such as “The Lion King”, “Aladdin”, “The Little Mermaid” and “Snow White”, which hits theaters in March 2025.

In “Tangled”, escaped thief Flynn Rider hides in a tower and ends up Rapunzel’s prisoner. Owner of 21 meter long magical golden hair, she has been locked in the place for years and desperately wants to see the world. The teenager makes a deal with the boy, and together they go on an adventure to see the lights in the city.
