An Israeli official accuses Iran of launching unmanned aerial vehicle attack on Zodiac Maritime tanker off Oman, broadcast the Israeli television channel Channel 13 TV.
The Israeli-owned company, which operates Mercer Street, a Japanese-owned Liberian flag, said earlier that two crew members, a Romanian and a British man, had been killed and described the incident as a possible piracy.
“What we have here is a terrorist act on the part of Iran,” an unnamed Israeli official was quoted as saying by the channel. According to the same source, the Romanian was the captain of Mercer Street and the Briton was a member of the security staff. “The Iranians hit the hull of the ship using an unmanned aircraft,” he added.
So far there is no reaction from Iran to this accusation.
