Taormina is a Sicilian jewel full of history and picturesque scenery

I say that traveling to Italy It’s almost a state of mind. Its destinations encompass so much preserved history and good cuisine that we’re always left wanting more. Taormina is an example of this: the city encompasses a lot of sophistication and culture, characteristics that are balanced with intense doses of joy. It’s spectacular.

After exploring the charms of Palermo, Cefalù and Siracusa for the 7th season of CNN Travel & Gastronomy, my farewell to Sicilia took place in one of the most visited locations on the Italian island. Interest in Taormina increased greatly with the series “The White Lotus ”, which boosted film tourism in the region, but the city has been attracting visitors since the 19th century – and it’s easy to see why.

A jewel of the Mediterranean, it exerts an impressive force on those who visit it, whether through its narrow streets with restaurants and little shops that are real finds, through its landscapes surrounded by historic buildings, hotels worthy of films or even through discoveries in the surroundings of Etna, the highest active volcano in Europe.

So, I leave Sicily much more in love than when I arrived. With the tips below what to do It is where to eat I’ll tell you a little more about the wonders of Taormina:
