The Governor of São Paulo, Tarcísio de Freitas (Republicans), meets this Wednesday (8) with the Minister of Ports and Airports, Márcio França, to discuss the privatization of the port of Santos.
It will be the first meeting between the two since taking office. França was the first in the federal government to express disagreement over the privatization of the port, one of the main measures defended by Tarcísio.
After that, the governor met with President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (PT), who, according to reports, said he had no closed position on the idea.
Tarcísio’s strategy is to demonstrate that privatization directly benefits the population of Baixada Santista with the generation of jobs and benefits such as the construction of a tunnel between Santos and Guarujá, an old claim of the region, which is France’s electoral base.
