new changes

Oscar is aware of criticism for lack of representation both in the categories and in the professionals responsible for voting and nominating the productions.

“The Academy is proud to welcome these artists and professionals as members,” said Academy CEO Bill Kramer and President Janet Yang. “They represent an extraordinary global talent across all filmmaking disciplines and have had a vital impact on film arts and sciences and on film fans around the world.”

Also according to the publication of the American magazine, this year’s guests include 40% of women, 34% of representatives of underrepresented ethnic and racial communities and 52% of 51 countries and territories outside the United States.

Last year, singer Billie Eilish, Oscar winner in the Best Supporting Actress category Ariana DeBose (“Amor, Sublime Amor”), actresses Caitríona Balfe and Jamie Dornan (“Belfast”) and Disney executive Dana Walde were part of the voter list.

The next edition of the Oscars takes place on March 10, 2024.
