Taylor Swift creates special playlists for new album release

Taylor Swift The heat for the release of his new studio album has already begun. The album titled “The Tortured Poets Department” arrives on April 19th and, despite not having released any songs from the project so far, the singer has put together, in five playlists, some of her already released songs that match the “five stages of grief” a concept that will be present in the new work.

In partnership with Apple Music, Taylor Swift chose songs from their previous albums to fit into five playlists that represent the “five stages of grief” : denial, anger, bargaining, depression and acceptance. This concept was created by psychiatrist Elisabeth Kübler-Ross in the book “On Death and Dying”, in 1969.

Fans of the artist were already theorizing about the album being about this, after Taylor released five different covers for her eleventh studio album that feature sayings that seem to refer to the internships. They are, in this order:

“I Love You, It's Ruining My Life” (“I Love You, It's Ruining My Life”, in translation), “You Don't Get To Tell Me About Sad” (“You Can't Tell Me About Sadness”), “Am I Allowed To Cry?” (“I’m Allowed to Cry?”), “Old Habits Die Screaming” (“Old Habits Die Screaming”) and the song “I Can Do It With a Broken Heart” (“I Can Do It With a Broken Heart”), featured on the tracklist.

“I Love You, It's Ruining My Life”

“This is a list of songs about getting so caught up in the idea of something that you have trouble seeing the red flags, possibly resulting in moments of denial and maybe a little disillusionment.”

Some songs included: Lavender Haze, Snow On The Beach, Style and Bejeweled.

“You Don't Get To Tell Me About Sad”

“These songs all have one thing in common: I wrote them while I was angry. Over the years, I've learned that anger can manifest itself in many different ways, but the healthiest way it manifests in my life is when I can write a song about it and often that helps me overcome it.”

Songs included: Vigilante Shit, High Infidelity, Would've, Could've, Should've, exile, illicit affairs and mad woman.

“Am I Allowed To Cry?” (“Am I Allowed to Cry?”)

“This playlist takes you through the songs I wrote when I was in the bargain bin. Times when you try to make deals with yourself or with someone you care about, you try to make things better, you feel very hopeless often because we often have kind of an intuition inside of us that tells us that things aren't going to go stay the way we expect. Which makes us more desperate, which makes us bargain more.”

Songs included: The Great War, this is me trying, peace, The Archer, Cornelia Street and Death By A Thousand Cuts.

“Old Habits Die Screaming”

“We will explore the feelings of depression that often permeate my songs. In times like these, I will write a song because I feel alone or hopeless and doing so feels like the only way to process this intensity of emotions. And even though these things are very difficult to get through, I often feel that when I'm listening to or writing music that deals with this intensity of loss and hopelessness, it usually happens at the stage where I'm close to overcoming that feeling.”

Songs included: Bigger Than The Whole Sky, Dear Reader, Maroon, You're Losing Me, my tears ricochet, epiphany, hoax and champagne problems.

“I Can Do It With a Broken Heart”

“We finally found acceptance and were able to move on. These songs represent making room for more good things in your life, making that choice, because often when we lose something, we gain something too.”

Songs included: You're On Your Own, Kid, Midnight Rain, Labyrinth, the 1, august, invisible string, happiness and long story short.
