Taylor Swift donates $100,000 to family of shooting victim at Chiefs party

Taylor Swift made two donations of US$50,000 (about R$250,000) to the family of Lisa Lopez-Galvan, who died, on Wednesday (14), in the mass shooting at the Kansas City Chiefs victory celebration parade at the Super Bowl.

Lopez-Galvan, a beloved Kansas City DJ, was celebrating the Chiefs' victory with her husband, son and daughter when she was shot to death. Twenty-two other people, including children in the parade, were injured.

“Sending my deepest condolences and sympathies following your devastating lossfsa. Love, Taylor Swift,” wrote the singer.

A representative for Swift confirmed to CNN who made the donations.

The fund's initial goal was to raise US$75,000 to provide financial support to Lopez-Galvan's family as they process the tragedy. As of Friday morning, more than US$182,000 (R$900.00) had been raised.

Swift previously made a charitable donation on behalf of shooting victims in 2018 to March for Our Lives and wrote on Instagram at the time that no one should fear gun violence.

“No one should have to go to school in fear of gun violence. Or to a nightclub. Or to a concert. Or to a movie theater. Or to your place of worship,” she said.

“I made a donation to show my support for the students, the March for Our Lives campaign, everyone affected by these tragedies, and to support gun reform.”

Swift is currently in Melbourne, Australia, on “The Eras Tour”. Meanwhile, Kelce said he was “heartbroken” about the shooting.

“I am heartbroken by the tragedy that happened today,” he wrote on X.

“My heart goes out to everyone who came to celebrate with us and was affected. KC, you mean a lot to me.
