A “Eras” tour in Taylor Swift was greeted by a glowing metro map of London redesigned in honor of the singer this Friday (21), while the British capital sees a gain of 300 million pounds (around US$379 million or R$2 billion).
Swift will perform eight shows at Wembley Stadium in London, with the first scheduled for this Friday, attracting around 700 thousand fans in total the municipal administration said in a statement.
In addition to spending on tickets and travel, her fans, known as swifties, splurge on bright clothes and accessories to represent different musical eras in the 34-year-old singer’s discography.
Swift’s billion-dollar tour has helped local economies since it began in the United States last year, although economists are generally skeptical that concert tours or major sporting events give more than a small boost to a country’s economy.
To mark the occasion, Transport for London has published a special version of its signature London Underground map.
The “Taylor’s Version” of the map, a tribute to the singer’s decision to re-record some of her work after losing control of the recordings, replaced the names of train stops with the titles of her songs, with “Westminster” renamed “Gorgeous” and “Piccadilly Circus” became “Wildest Dreams”.
The star herself has spent time in the city in the past, when she was dating British actor Joe Alwyn, and has even named popular London spots in her music.
London Mayor Sadiq Khan posted a photo of himself on X outside Wembley Stadium, revealing a mural of Swift’s face, capturing the singer’s signature blue eyes and red lips.
The royal family even got in on the act, releasing a video on social media of the traditional Changing of the Guard ceremony at Buckingham Palace, playing one of Swift’s songs with the caption: “Can’t stop, won’t stop groovin” ( I can’t stop, I won’t stop dancing, in Portuguese).
