Taylor Swift's album breaks all-time record for streams in less than a week

On the afternoon of this Wednesday (24), the streaming platform Spotify announced on social media that the singer Taylor Swift broke a new record as “Tortured Poets Department” her 11th studio album.

In less than a week, the pop star's album surpassed one billion streams – which is nothing more than the total number of times a musical product has been listened to on Spotify. Taylor Swift reached the milestone in April 22nd, having broke the record in just 4 days since its launch.

This is not the first record achieved by “The Tortured Poets Department”. In less than 24 hours after its debut, it became the most listened to album on its debut day on the streaming platforms Amazon Music, Apple Music and Spotify.

On Spotify, Taylor Swift also broke the records for most listened to artist in one day and most listened to song in one day, with “Fortnight”, in partnership with Post Malone.

Other records

Taylor also broke his own record for best-selling vinyl records in a single day, with 700,000 copies. The brand was obtained on Friday, the day of launch. The album that previously held the rank was “1989”, released by the singer in 2014. At the time, the album sold 693,000 vinyls in the same day.

“The Tortured Poets Department” (“TTPD”) sold 1.5 million copies in the US in its first three days. With those numbers alone, the album recorded the highest first-week sales of any album since Adele's “25” nearly 3.4 million copies in one week in 2015.

She could still break other records with her new work. Check it out here.
