Taylor Swift's clues: everything her looks told us about the release of her new album. Did we notice?

There's a valid reason why Taylor Swift's looks have been nicknamed “Easter Eggs” from the American press. Literally “Easter eggs” because through many of her outfits – street style and red carpet – the 34-year-old American singer often drops hints about her upcoming songs. And in recent months this is exactly what happened: Taylor Swift wore accessories that alluded to the names of many of the songs that now make up her new album, The Tortured Poets Department.

Released this April 19th, The Tortured Poets Department is a double album in two volumes. And it is right here, in the second volume, that the journalist Sarah Chapelle (author of the book Taylor Swift Style) has identified the most striking clues, which lead back to the songs Thank you Aimee, Cassandre, Robin And The Albatross. Just coincidences?

It was October 2023 when Taylor Swift was spotted on an evening out in Los Angeles with longtime friend Selena Gomez. As reported Glamour, the barrette she wore in her hair was none other than the model Aimee of the Anthropologie brand: coincidentally, in the new album released on April 19th there is a song called Thank you Aimeetrack number 24 which seems to be a dig at Kim Kardashian.

Last November 2023, Taylor Swift was instead paparazzi in New York with her friend and fellow singer Gracie Abrams. Accessory protagonist of the look? His bag, or rather the famous model Cassandre of San Laurent. The iconic bag takes its name from Adolphe Mouron Cassandre, the great master of advertising graphics who created the YSL logo for the French fashion house in the twentieth century. A gem of fashion history that echoes today in the new song Cassandretrack number 27 of Taylor Swift's new album.

There's no two without three. In January, here is Taylor Swift again sowing a new clue in her street style looks. For an evening in the Big Apple, the singer wore the ankle boots Robin by The Row: just scroll through the album The Tortured Poets Department up to track number 30 to find out what the song in question is called. Taylor Swift and Kate Middleton are closer than you think

In fact, the singer seems to have taken inspiration from the Princess of Wales for the creation of her look shown off at the 2024 Grammys. Is it still the Kate effect?

The climax of all these clues scattered here and there was the red carpet look that Taylor Swift showed off at the 2024 Grammy Awards. The Schiaparelli fashion house signed her wonderful draped white dress, but one detail did not go unnoticed by the singer's fans, this time not tangible but metaphorical. As many on social media have pointed out, the black velvet gloves resembled the black wings of an albatross, mythological bird that refers to wisdom and spiritual protection. Just another coincidence? Seeing is believing what track 19 of his album is called: The Albatross. Dear Taylor, we get it. It's time to start decoding all your looks.
