An inspection by the Court of Auditors of the State of São Paulo (TCE-SP) revealed the conditions of police stations, hospitals, reference centers and Legal Medical Institutes that provide care to women victims of domestic and family violence. The inspection takes place this Thursday (26) in 229 bodies in 140 cities in the metropolitan, interior and coastal regions.
In addition to the structural situation of the spaces, services such as the presence of doctors, nurses and psychologists trained to provide preferential and emergency care in different cases are also evaluated.
In Jaboticabal, in the interior of the state, for example, the inspection found the medical examination unit, which was supposed to operate 24 hours a day, closed.
In the city of Mirassol, also in the interior, the Women’s Defense Police Station had burned out light bulbs, a broken fan, walls with holes, old paintwork and part of the ceiling without plaster.
In Franco da Rocha, in the metropolitan region, infectious materials from autopsies were exposed in open spaces.
The action can be monitored in real time through a platform created by TCEwhere auditors report identified irregularities. Inspection on this topic is taking place for the first time in almost a decade, since the actions began to be carried out.

Increase in cases
Records of violence against women have increased in recent years, according to the Brazilian Public Security Yearbook, in all forms. Domestic violence grew 9.8% in 2023, compared to 2022, while threats rose 16.5%.
