The Court of Auditors of the Municipality of São Paulo (TCMSP) called a meeting for next Thursday (25) with representatives from the City of São Paulo and the concessionaire Allegra Pacaembu.
The objective, according to the organization, is to discuss the security problems at the sports complex, which led to the cancellation of singer Roberto Carlos' show last Friday (19).
The concessionaire and São Paulo City Hall have until the date of the meeting to present an updated schedule, as well as explanations about the progress of works at the site.
Reported by counselor Domingos Dissei, TCMSP has been monitoring the works since the launch of the concession notice. According to the court, the contractual execution analysis process will intensify the routine of visits to the site, which will now take place weekly.
A CNN the Municipal Department of Sports and Leisure (SEME) reported that meetings with the Municipal Audit Court are frequent.
“The Pacaembu Complex concession contract is routinely monitored through visits and analysis of reports presented by the concessionaire”, says the ministry in a note.
In a statement, Concessionaire Allegra Pacaembu stated that it will present all the requested information to the Municipal Audit Court.
The company also reiterated that, if authorized, singer Roberto Carlos' show would have been held in comfort and safety.
“As informed to the MPSP and City Hall, the Fire Department’s notes were resolved hours before the scheduled opening of the gates,” says the note.
Allegra also says that, with the cancellation, “the opportunity was lost to present to the public present with more than 100 members of the press the advanced stage of the renovation, modernization and restoration works, which are continuing at an accelerated pace”.
Show canceled due to “lack of security”
The City of São Paulo did not authorize the holding of Roberto Carlos' special birthday show, which would take place at Arena Pacaembu, “after the lack of security was confirmed during a joint inspection by the Fire Department and Contru, a municipal body that certifies the safety of buildings” .
According to the municipal administration, irregularities were found such as obstructed and incomplete emergency exits, non-existent escape route signage, inoperative pressurized stairs, emergency exit doors without anti-panic bars and an inoperative fire detection system.
