Teacher dies after being shot in attempted robbery in Baixada Fluminense

A 34-year-old teacher died after being shot in an attempted robbery in Belford Roxo, in Baixada Fluminense, last Wednesday (24).

The victim was identified as Layla Marinho Paixão de Moraes. She was shot in the back and abdomen and was rushed to hospital, but died.

A CNN the general director of Ciep Simone de Beauvoir, Renata Coelho, lamented the loss of the employee: “She was very intelligent and studious. A loss for Education in Belford Roxo”, said the director.

Also on Wednesday (24), the unit paid tribute to the teacher: “The team loves and admires you. CIEP in Mourning!”, wrote the group.

The teacher’s body has not yet been released. According to family members, she will be laid to rest and buried at the Memorial do Rio cemetery.

Layla would have turned 35 next month. Married, she leaves behind a husband and a ten-year-old son. She had a degree in education and had worked as a supervisor at the Simone de Beauvoir Municipal School for about two and a half years.

In a statement, the Civil Police reported that they are investigating the death and determining who committed the crime. The case was registered at the Baixada Fluminense Homicide Division (DHBF).
