There is nothing more gratifying than seeing a woman supporting another woman. In a world where selfishness and divisions are increasingly notorious, it is encouraging to hear stories like the following, because they make us keep our hope in humanity.
Bruna Fidje, a 32-year-old Brazilian mother, had no one to entrust her three-month-old baby to, as she needed to take an exam at the university, so she chose to take her “bendi” to campus, without imagining that her teacher would sympathize with her by offering to take care of the little boy.
In an interview for the magazine O Segredo, Bruna said that she is in the fourth year of her Law Degree and had to take a civil procedural law exam, her husband is the one who takes care of the little one when the young mother goes to the university, but that day he had a setback and could not arrive for the baby, so the student had no choice but to take it with her.
The teacher was embarrassed to see me there trying to take the test with the baby in my arms. She told me: ‘Give it to me, I’ll keep it’. I said no, because there were a lot of people in the class. But I ended up agreeing and she spent two and a half hours charging it while I did the test.
She would go places to answer student questions with him on her lap, the cutest thing in the world. I managed to record the video before the test started, because I thought it was the most beautiful. It was a balm to see that care, that affection, the way in which a woman can empathize with another and extend her hand.
She rocked the baby, fed it, and played with it. I get excited just remembering it. I even cried, because reconciling motherhood with university hasn’t been easy for me, but things like that renew our faith in humanity.
For her part, Iris Lippi, the teacher, spoke about the fact that a teacher must be a problem solver, since they are obviously someone who is there to transmit knowledge, but they must also be available when the student requires it, and above all, understand their needs.
I think we women know how hard motherhood is, especially if you’re going to college. When I entered, I saw that Bruna was with the baby and I immediately imagined that I had no one to leave it with. I talked to the class about the test, handed them in, and then offered to keep the baby so she could take the test with ease.
