TeamGroup has DDR5 DIMMs ready

In late 2020, TeamGroup entered into agreements with leading DRAM wafer manufacturers and began work on DDR5 technology. The development was carried out in cooperation with major manufacturers of motherboards, which provided the opportunity for comprehensive testing of the developed modules. Today, TeamGroup announced the launch of the DDR5 desktop memory module, TeamGroup Elite U-DIMM DDR5, calling it the world’s first. According to the manufacturer, these modules will become available to consumers in late June or early July.

TeamGroup has DDR5 DIMMs ready

The first to appear on the market are sets of two 16 GB modules operating at an effective frequency of 4800 MHz with latencies CL40-40-40-77 at a supply voltage of 1.1 V, which meets JEDEC specifications. The company reminds that the maximum frequency fixed in the DDR4 standard is 3200 MHz. Compared to it, the frequency of new models has been increased by 50%. At the same time, the supply voltage is lower than that of DDR4 modules, which results in improved energy efficiency. The most important feature of DDR5 Elite U-DIMMs is the doubling of the number of banks from 16 in the case of DDR4 to 32 in the case of DDR5.

The new memory modules are suitable for Intel 600 series motherboards with DDR5 support. The kit has a suggested retail price of $ 400.
